Harlan Sealant Trip

For those of you who didn't know, recently I started dental school. Being a dental student and a photographer has kept me quite busy, but I love doing both and am grateful for the chance to obtain a good education. This past weekend a group of us traveled to Harlan, Kentucky in order to place resin sealants in elementary children teeth. Sealants are placed in deep pits and fissures of teeth in order to prevent caries from forming.

Emily and Josh Engagement

Two weekends ago I had the wonderful opportunity to take engagement pictures for a classmate of mine - Emily. The early morning drizzle gave way to a nice and sunny Sunday afternoon. Both Emily and Josh were good sports as I put them in many awkward posing positions. Some of their pictures are in the following slideshow.

Where to Find Joy

This is my son - Greg.

His mother constantly reminds me that he is probably the most photographed 1 year old in the entire world. To which I reply, "In the entire world? Maybe in North America or even in Kentucky, but the world?:) And then I think, "Yup. She's right. Greg, the most photographed child in the entire world." You see, when photography is your job (and a mighty good one at that), the pictures you take in your spare time have to be something that you can't live without, of something you cherish, of something you love.

But it is easy to love something that loves you unconditionally. It is much harder to find love in someone who was once a stranger. So meet my wife - Amber.

I often joke with Greg that the majority of his love for me is a genetic trait passed on by his mother. And so you see, when there are no families, landscapes, or events to photograph...I find the greatest joy in finding my wife and son behind my lens.

I am no expert in relationships and please don't ever ask me for dating tips or advice. However, when you are staring up into the stars and wondering...

where the "right" person is...perhaps that same person is staring right back at you...

Amelia and Anderson

I am continually amazed by the small miracles of modern medicine, a baby's will to live, and the sacrifice of loving parents. This weekend I was asked to take pictures of Anderson and Amelia. These two twins were born a couple of months early, but are doing great and are about to surpass their 6 month marks.

Photographing these two was the best spent hour of the entire weekend.

We Are Live: Accidents

For the last several months I have been working hard to publish my photography website and can now officially say that it is up and running. After several emails (ok...maybe about a million) to BluDomain regarding hosting and domain registration, you can now see the site online. Despite the many difficulties during this endeavor, I am extremely pleased with the final project.

Lessons learned:

Owning your own business is tough. Be prepared to spend countless hours spinning your tears without gaining any traction.
Be motivated.
Don't let setbacks ruin your dream.
Don't be afraid to ask for help.
Plan ahead.
